About our school

Crawford Public School is located in Doonside, Western Sydney, and it has been serving the local community since 1977. We have a large school, which holds up to 24 classes. Our facilities include: a connected classroom, EAL/D room, Aboriginal Cultural Centre, computer room, a well resourced library, a school hall and our large playground is equipped with play equipment, cricket nets and basketball/netball courts.

Our school motto is "Initiative" and this is the focal point of our day-to-day operations. We encourage our students to think for themselves and to make active and valued judgements on how they better themselves and society. The SRC are the leaders of this message, they are guided by our staff to make sound decisions for the benefit of their peers and our wider school community.

Student learning at Crawford Public School, is our core business. Our staff are highly qualified teachers and continue to develop their expertise through professional learning opportunities. This is to ensure that our students are exposed to quality teaching and learning programs, which cater to their diverse needs. We encourage our students to enter a journey for learning in the 21st Century through co-operative learning, collaboration and with the use of range of technology. (iPads, digital cameras, XO Laptops, etc.)  Our school offers placement to students with intellectual learning disabilities and our school learning areas are accessible to all students.

The students at Crawford Public School are encouraged to be the best they can be and have opportunities to participate in a range of sporting, creative and extra-curricula activities. We believe that our school should provide students with a holistic approach to learning and that is why our staff provide such a vast range of activities.

Crawford Public School is a large Primary school comprising of twenty one permanent classrooms and nine demountables with wheelchair access to some facilities. It provides programs for students gifted in dance, art, technology, gymnastics, debating and performance and caters for children with a mild or moderate intellectual disability from Kindergarten to Year 6. The school is protected by a perimeter fence, which has greatly reduced vandalism and has allowed for the successful establishment of native gardens and the safe use of the facilities after school hours. Crawford Public School is a co-operative school community promoting and recognising initiative, worth and achievement. This is achieved by: providing quality teaching practices and learning programs; implementing quality assessment and reporting processes; a strong commitment to student welfare and developing self esteem, self discipline, independence and a positive attitude to learning; promoting strong partnerships with the community; using technology to maximise opportunities for effective learning; and encouraging co-operation, tolerance and respect.
